Frequenty Asked Questions about Language Translations
Common QuestionsHow does LanguageTran qualify translators?
Translation quality, accurateness and consistency depend on several factors, including:
What does LanguageTran look for in its translators? LanguageTran selects translators based on their formal education and training, professional experience, and willingness to work with our tools, specifications and procedures. A good language translator is someone who meets ALL of following criteria:
At LanguageTran we select our team members by first identifying the best candidates that fit the above criteria. Once a candidate has been vetted and selected, we assign small projects to him or her, which are carefully reviewed and judged by our senior translators and proofreaders. Once we are confident that the candidate is competent, careful and willing to accept our instructions and requirements, he or she becomes a preferred team member. Are your translators specialists? Yes, when it is required. When a project involves a specific field, such as a medical claim, it is assigned to a translator who has many years of experience as a medical translator. Our translation teams also include technical, scientific, legal and other specializations. Are your translators certified? The short answer is that some are and some are not. Our certified translators live in countries that have an official certifying authority. In the United States there is no such authority, except for agencies that certify court interpreters. (An organization called the American Translators Association offers its own accreditation credential, for a fee.) Are your translations certified? When a certified translation is required, we provide our Certificate of Translation, which fulfills the translation certification requirements of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and other U.S. official requirements. What does Guaranteed Quality mean?

Pros: CAT software will give your greater control over your own translation resources. It will also give you more flexibility to work with different translation vendors, either in-house or freelancers. Translation clients should consider investing in these tools when they have large ongoing translation workflows.
Cons: These tools are expensive and have a steep learning curve for a project manager. In addition, they require a qualified linguist/manager to administer work-flows, database maintenance and terminology management. Conclusion: Unless your company handles a significant translation workflow in-house, you are better off relying on a professional translation agency to provide and manage CAT technology for your project. Computer-Aided Translation tools offer powerful ways to reduce your translation costs and increase consistency across large translation projects by leveraging previously or repeated text.
